2024 Summer State League R6 & Junior Winter R5

WSL2 / WSL3 (Editor)

Both of our senior women's teams had a scheduled BYE this week, so enjoyed a night off at home. Next week the SL2 team will face the undefeated ladder leaders Richmond, whilst the SL3 ladies will battle with old rivals StCath's.

WSL3 (Combo Jnr Team) - Report by Frankie Varghese

This week's match was a challenging but also fun one. St Caths played an amazing game and although they won, our team played a strong attack and made several attempts at goals. It was great to play with the newer members on our team and we’re looking forward continuing to strengthen as a side this season.

Essendon were defeated by StCath's : 0 - 14

MSL4 - Report by Ambrose Mills

It was a lovely Thursday night, and the boys were out for blood after a tight loss the previous week. The team displayed beautiful offense and defense, with selfless play leading to a commanding lead throughout the game. A special mention goes to the silver fox, Lee, who was particularly generous this week, dishing out three assists. Anytime a glimmer of hope appeared for the Dragons, it was immediately snuffed out by Felix, who ruthlessly stopped everything that came his way.

Essendon defeated the NYP Dragons : 14 - 0 Goals : Ambrose 6, Ryan 2, Oscar 2, Lee 2, Paul 2

Unfortunately our combined Essendon/Monash/Geelong/Footscray team did not have enough players available this week, and were forced to call a forfeit. It means they have finished in 5th place for this competition, and unfortunately will miss out on the playoffs.
