FINALS : 2026 Senior Summer Splash & the 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition
Women's A Grade - GOLD MEDAL GAME 🥇 Report by Darren Steere After the surprise of making the “Grand Final” of the Summer Splash A grade, we then had to organise a team to compete. While we were missing a few, Gen with work, Emmy had other commitments (we were never meant to play this week) Alex with a broken toe, illness to Phoebe and Lara and Emily is concentrating on her National Swimming Championships. The good news is that we were able to welcome Gen from WSL3 and Jo

ROUND 5 MATCHES (RESCHEDULED DUE TO POOL ISSUES 10-3-26) Women's A Grade The Essendon girls had a night off with a scheduled bye this week, but have finished the competititon in second place, so will play off in the Gold Medal game next week. Women's B Grade : EssRed - Report by Lisa Murray-Segal Unfortunately we had only 5 of our 11 players available this week, and we were unable to secure help from the A grade ladies, so had to call in a forfeit. 2026 Senior Summer Splash - R6 and the 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R13
Women's A Grade - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen Richmond started with 6 players vs our 9, making us hopeful we could get a headstart on them. Unfortunately their 7th player arrived pretty quickly, but we hoped our 2 subs would prove their worth in the 2nd half. Richmond's first two goals were from perimeter shots where their players weren't put under enough pressure. Then a 3rd came from their CF getting around her marker. Essendon were finally able to claw one back through

2026 Senior Summer Splash - R5
Women's A Grade Our womens A were scheduled to have the night off this week, with a bye so were not affected by the pool closure. Women's B Grade : EssRed Women's B Grade : EssBlack With our Black team due to play at 7.40pm Tuesday night and our Reds at 8.20pm, there was a rush to communicate the pool closure amongst players with VicPolo phoning through with the news at 5.15pm. The main indoor pool where our games were to be played had murky water so MSAC made the call to

2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R12
12&U Mixed - Report by Hayden Woods The Essendon / DVE U12s played a strong Geelong / NYP team in a tough fought match which proved that Geelong’s status as a nemesis team extends all the way from the senior men to our most junior team. The team fought hard all game but weren’t quite able to hold onto the lead in the 2nd half. Essendon/DVE Aquatic were defeated by the Marlins/NYP Dragons : 5 - 9 Goals : TBC 14&U Boys (Editor) This week our combined side of Footscray/Essen

2026 Senior Summer Splash - R4 and the 2026 TriStates Tournament
Women's A Grade - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen Essendon were playing the top of the table team, Richmond 17s. It was therefore a bad night to have only 8 available. Interestingly, Richmond only had 5 in the pool before another 5 girls materialised to make it 10. We started off well with Phoebe turning her player on the 2nd attack to shoot home. But Richmond had some strong swimmers and swapping in their 3 reserves half way through gave them some extra verve, as they moved out

2026 Senior Summer Splash - R2 and the 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R10
Women's A Grade - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen (Photos Below) Essendon were playing NYP in their 2nd Summer Splash A grade game. We had 9 players vs NYP with 7, however the majority of their players were SL1 meaning we were in for a hard game. The game pace was pretty steady and both teams had chances but Essendon were struggling to complete their sets and get good shots on goal. Towards the end of the quarter, NYP broke the stalemate after a clean break and Katie couldn't

Women's A Grade Essendon played a tight draw with the top Richmond Team. Essendon drew 8-8 with Richmond Tigers Women's B Grade : EssRed - Report by Sheridan Mom Summer Splash 2026 kicked off on a perfect summer evening. With new teams formed — splitting the SL3 squad and adding juniors for extra experience and game time — it was a great opportunity to build combinations and confidence. 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R8
12&U Mixed - Report by Sheridan Mom A late change of venue and time saw us head to Melbourne Girls Grammar after Vic Polo had pool booking issues. With the festive season in full swing, numbers were a little light—just one player on the bench this week. Despite that, the kids showed fantastic improvement and put up a great contest against Melbourne Collegians. The team should be proud of their effort. We’re getting better every week, both defensively and in attack. It wa

2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R7
12&U Mixed - Report by Sheridan Mom Despite torrential rain at the start of the game, our players, coaches, and umpires pushed through while spectators scrambled for cover. This week, our U12s took on Richmond—a team we knew would be a tough challenge. The first half was a close contest, with our kids working hard to stay on their forwards. Playing in the shallow end made things tricky, and a few missed calls on players pushing off the bottom didn’t help. We went into halft

2025 Senior Summer State League - R16 and 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R6
WSL2 - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen Essendon started the last game before finals with 12 players vs Richmond's 10. We were in 2nd place guaranteed a finals place, and the Tigers needed a win and someone else to lose to get in the running. The first half of the first quarter had us on auto pilot as we managed 3 quite quick goals, with Gen holding them up at CF for a penalty, then Bene and Emmy shooting strongly from the field. They got back with one goal but then they score

2025 Senior Summer State League - R15 and 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R5
WSL2 - Report by Darren Steere It had been awhile since the girls have had a game of polo. We had the weekend away in Albury/Wodonga a little while ago, then we had to forfeit a game with sickness, followed by a forfeit being given to us and then a bye, plus the Melbourne Cup break. We faced the Richmond Yellow team that are 4th on the ladder. It was a bit chaotic at the start, with no one for the table except me. So the girls ran the bench, while I addressed them at the

WSL2 (Editor) An extended break for the team this week, with a scheduled BYE. With only two games left, against Richmond Yellow and Richmond Tigers, the girls would need to win at least one game to guarantee their place in the major semi final (1 Vs 2). WSL3 - Report by Lisa Murray-Segal We had good numbers this week, with 11 girls available, but were missing our swim up champ in Gen. So our quarters didn't start off as well as they could have. WSL2 (Editor) This week's game didn't eventuate, with Footscray unable to field and team, and a forfeit called. 2025 Senior Summer State League - R12 and 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R2
WSL2 - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen Essendon started again with 13 this week vs Richmond's 8. Despite only having one sub, Richmond was a sterner test this week than NYP could muster last week. The game see-sawed for a 2-2 score before Richmond managed to put some pressure one-one one with our Centre backs leading to a 2 goal lead by the end of the first quarter. In the second term, Richmond put on the afterburners, and apart from one good break for Essendon where their go

2025 Senior Summer State League - R11 and 2025-26 Junior Summer Competition - R1
WSL2 - Report by Torben Fink-Jensen Essendon turned up with 13 players this week out of a squad of 14 with just goalie Kate unavailable, leaving Lara to be "volun-told" into goalkeeper. NYP were able to bring 9 to the contest. With the addition of Annie LeFoe and Katie Bruce, Essendon have created depth and breadth across the field, and this was obvious tonight when we celebrated Olivia's birthday by steamrolling a slightly weaker than normal NYP 22-6, a bit of a runaway w
