Women's A Grade

Women's B Grade : EssRed

Essendon had a scheduled Bye

Women's B Grade : EssBlack - Report by Sandra Grobbe

With so many girls showing up to training during the week, we were all really excited to get into the pool and apply the skills we’ve been working on. Spirits were high heading into our game against Old Ivanhoe, and we were ready to give it our best.

The first quarter was tough, and Old Ivanhoe came out strong, but Kerrie got us on the scoreboard with a great goal. After our quarter-time chats, we really stepped up our defence and lifted the intensity. In the second quarter, we managed to score two more goals — one from Sophie and one to Amber from the 7-metre line.

The second half didn’t bring us any more goals, but we worked hard on our set up and swimming to keep the score down as much as we could. Although the final result was 3–17, we were proud of the way we kept fighting and supported each other right until the end. Can't wait to see how much we will keep growing and learning together! Very excited to see everyone pool side again next week and see if we can keep up with our opposition to keep the score line closer together.

Essendon were defeated by Old Ivanhoe : 3 - 17

Men's C Grade - Report by Ryan Mills

What a clinical performance! The boys headed into the pool this week and absolutely dismantled Monash with a dominant 13-4 victory. It was a masterclass in C-Grade water polo, blending fresh energy with veteran grit.

Final Score: Essendon 13 - Monash 4

Match Highlights

Welcome to the Club: A massive shoutout to Jack, who suited up for his first game with Essendon. Not only did he fit right into the system, but he also managed to find the back of the net. Welcome to the family, Jack!

The Brick Wall: Matt was locked in between the posts. Holding any team to just 4 goals is a testament to his positioning and reflexes. He provided the solid foundation the rest of the team needed to play aggressively upfront.

The Engine Room: Lee deserves a medal (or at least a very long nap) for his efforts in the swim-ups. He was "doing God's work" out there, even having to back up and do a swim-up twice in a row. That’s the kind of fitness and hustle that wins games.

Goal Scorers

Our offense was firing on all cylinders, with the goals spread beautifully across the roster:

Riccardo: 3 goals (The hat-trick hero!)

Vince: 2 goals

Callum: 2 goals

Ambrose: 1 goal

Jack: 1 goal

Final Thoughts

This was a comprehensive team win. From Matt’s saves to Lee’s sprints and a balanced attack, Monash simply didn't have an answer for the Essendon pressure. We’ll look to carry this momentum and clinical finishing into next week.

Up the rats!

Essendon "dismantled" Monash Uni: 13 - 4

Goals : Above :)

Men's D Grade - Report by Thomas Donohue (First Goals scored!)

It was men against boys at MSAC on Thursday night, with Essendon delivering a physical, composed, and ultimately dominant performance to run out 9–6 winners over Monash Uni.

The tone was set early with a blistering opening swim from number 5, signalling Essendon’s intent from the first whistle. The opening quarter was relatively even on the scoreboard, but Essendon already looked the more controlled and dangerous side. Monash stayed in it through a few fortunate breaks, but the balance of play was clearly favouring the red and black.

By the second quarter, Essendon began to assert themselves. Their structure tightened, their pressure lifted, and they started to separate on the scoreboard. Strong defensive work and smarter ball movement saw them edge ahead and take control of the contest.

The third quarter was where the game truly broke open.

Brian Wee was relentless in the forward line, overpowering defenders and creating constant pressure. But this wasn’t a one-man effort — it was a complete team display. Essendon dominated physically and mentally, winning contests across the pool while Monash struggled to keep up. The intensity gap was obvious. Essendon wanted it more, and it showed.

That dominance translated into scoreboard pressure, stretching the lead and effectively putting the game beyond doubt.

The final quarter continued in the same vein. Essendon’s experienced core took over, controlling the tempo and shutting down any attempt at a comeback. While Monash showed effort, they simply couldn’t match the strength, composure, and game awareness of the Essendon veterans.

In the end, it was a comprehensive performance — built on physicality, teamwork, and control — and a clear statement from Essendon as a side not to be taken lightly this season.

Essendon dominated Monash Uni : 9 - 6

Goals :Bryan 3, Thomas 2, Sam 2, Hayden 1, Rohan 1

Youth Boys (Jack) - Report by Ilona Elmore

After a week off due to pool issues—and a tough learning experience in the Summer Splash series on Wednesday—the boys were more than ready to jump back in and show just how hard they’ve been working over the past few weeks.

The extra AYC training is clearly paying off. Their game structure was sharp, and the one-on-one contests were incredible to watch. Jack set the tone early, opening the scoring with the first goal of the game. Jacks ability to win the ball throughout the first half was outstanding and gave the team real momentum.

DVE executed their game tactics strongly, and you can really see the boys buying into the structure and systems being implemented. While the scoreboard didn’t quite reflect it, DVE dominated large periods of the match. The lower margin came down to missed opportunities, with too many shots just off target.

The back-to-back games at the Geelong Tri State in Geelong this weekend will be the perfect opportunity to tighten up that game play and continue building consistency across 4 quarters

DVE Aquatic(Essendon) defeated Richmond Black : 6 - 3

Youth Girls

This week was a scheduled BYE, so no games were played.
