Mixed 12&U
GAME 1 : The mixed Essendon/Geelong U12s team looked very rusty this week against a well drilled and organised Footscray team. Under a lot of pressure, we struggled to get the ball up the pool into our forward line at times. And MSAC being a lot bigger and longer than Hawthorn, where we had played the last few weeks, our swimming let us down and our abilities to cover the fast breaks and cover back let us down. One highlight was a nice goal to Dean!
Essendon/Geelong were defeated by Footscray : 3 - 13
GAME 2 :
The team was ready to take on DVE after our first disappointing loss. High on sugar after our picnic between games, the kids were hyper to say the least. The opposition were more closely matched to our team, and everyone worked well together. Passing the ball forward and creating many scoring opportunities with Xavier slotting one in. This is the closest we have been to DVE, as previous games throughout the season were 10 and then 5 goal losses. A great game to end the season.
Essendon/Geelong were defeated by DVE Aquatic : 5 - 7

Girls 14&U - Report by Kate Simnett
GAME 1 : SEMI FINAL
An 8:40am start on a Sunday, had more than a few parents wondering if they really were living the dream, against the #1 Northcote side. The girls were pumped and ready to go. They fought hard and although the lead switched throughout the girls went down narrowly by 2 goals. We were let down by inaccurate shooting - though we were delighted about the amount of shots on goal we had which has been an issue for us all season - but not by the effort in the pool. It was objectively a really exciting game with a lot of good skills on show.
Essendon/Geelong were defeated by Northcote : 4 - 6
GAME 2 : BRONZE MEDAL GAME 🥉
Our next game was at 2pm after a post-season round of egg and bacon rolls and a time filling round of Taskmaster 😄 They played a strong Richmond side which ended in the same score. The girls again fought hard and our fantastic keeper, Isla, saved many many excellent attempts. Again it was an exciting game but this time the flavour was more one of marking your player and taking them out of the game.
Essendon/Geelong were defeated by Richmond Yellow : 4 - 6
It's been a massive amount of progress and I know all the girls are looking forward to playing again as soon as possible. Big shout out to Emmy and Sandra for all their coaching and training.

GAME 1 : SEMI FINAL
Over this past weekend the Under 18 boys competed in two finals. Our first semi would be a scratch match due to a lack of players on our side. The game started off well with us only going down by 4 by the end of the quarter. Half time came up right after we scored our first goal of the game. The rest of the first match was tough but the boys kept swimming which made a difference. The match ended in a 6-18 scoreline.
Essendon/Monash/NYP Dragons were defeated by Richmond : 0 - 8 (FORFEIT)
GAME 2 : BRONZE MEDAL GAME 🥉
With the semi final loss, we fronted up to play against DVE in the Bronze medal game. This was also a scratch match due to our lack of player numbers. However we still came out strong levelling it at quarter time 4 - 4. In the next three quarters we were out swum by DVE and with a mixup in keepers we lost this match 7-12.
Essendon/Monash/NYP Dragons were defeated by DVE Aquatic : 0 - 8 (FORFEIT)
Unfortunately the Essendon/Monash/NYP Dragons combined team were unable to get sufficient numbers together to field a team for their finals games.
