Summer State League – R7 and Semi/Grand Finals

Hi everyone,

It’s been a big week, with plenty of highs and lows in the pool. Our Men’s SL5 team played their grand final game and were narrowly beaten, having to settle for the runners-up title. Congratulations to all the boys who consistently played well through the competition, only dropping the one game before the GF. Congratulations, well done!

Our Women’s SL3 were handed a forfeit in their bronze medal game and have finished the tournament in 3rd.

But there’s plenty of action to come this weekend! Our Junior Women (18s) had an amazing win this week and will now play in the Grand Final game on Sunday, whilst our Junior Men (18s) had to concede a forfeit in their semi and will play off in the bronze medal game. Our Youth Boys (16s) will play their first Semi-final Sunday morning, and if successful will play in the Grand Final game that afternoon. We wish our young players all the best for their finals games… good luck!!

TRAINING SUSPENDED There will be no training on Monday night or for the rest of April. We will resume on May 9th. The exception to this is our AYWP Players and teams going to Brisbane to compete (there will be training for you on April 11).

WINTER COMPETITION The next official WPV competition – Winter – will commence mid-May. The club has been asked for team entries, so we need to have some idea on players availability. Please indicate to Darren, Torben, your coach or Team Manager if you intend on playing – or indicate you will not be available. It is unclear at this stage whether junior teams will be included, so it’s important for us to weigh up potential numbers in case they are.

Our Junior Women’s team this week (and Coach Darren Steere) who won their semi to make the Grand Final game, with just 6 players!
